COFFEE & MENU - Good Espresso | Lots of Options
Standard offering of espresso drinks plus seasonal and special menu items with the full suite of plant based milks
They offer a cubano which is an espresso drink made with a special preparation that involves vigorously mixing brown sugar in with a portion of the early espresso shot before combining it with the milk.
There is a small selection of pastries, bagels, and cookies on the menu
What we ordered: Americano with steamed soy milk & Whole Milk Cubano
The Cubano was delicious. The hint of brown sugar added a carmely sweetness which was paired well with the stronger drink since a cubano has a higher amount of espresso and less milk than a traditional latte. The Americano was good and had a nice layer of foam on top from the soy milk.
ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE - Casual | Inviting
A Sellwood community staple - this coffee shop has exchanged hands a few times in the past several years. First in 2020 by a couple committed to saving the shop from closing and most recently in 2024 to a new set of owners.
The building is located on the corner of a quiet Sellwood neighborhood and painted an iconic deep blue. There is plenty of seating inside at various bars and tables and more seating outside around the perimeter of the shop.
The aesthetic is simple and comfortable which lends itself to the inviting atmosphere. The shop had a steady stream of firefighters, runners, and locals coming in and out during our time there.
The coffee’s were served in lovely blue porcelain mugs - the same ones we have used at Capitola Coffee.
RATING & CONCLUSIONS - Neighborhood Spot, Good Coffee | rating 3.5*
The coffee was a notch better than we expected given the casual vibe of the shop. We were especially impressed with the cortado.
The space is a welcoming, comfortable spot to have a leisurely coffee date or get work done. It doesn’t have a particular design aesthetic. It just delivers on being a solid coffee shop for the local Sellwood community.
